Northern Youths Accuses El-Rufai Stoking Regional Tension

Youths Frontiers (NYF) has Condemned the statement credited to the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, describing them as divisive, self-serving, and unrepresentative of Northern interests.
In a statement by its North West Zonal Coordinator, Saminu Tukur, the NYF accused El-Rufai of stoking regional tensions in a desperate bid to regain political relevance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It viewed El-Rufai’s veiled threats and inflammatory rhetoric as desperate attempt by a politically irrelevant figure to reinsert himself into national discourse.
The group maintained that El-Rufai’s political career has been marred by bitterness and betrayal, citing how he discarded relationships with key figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, President Obasanjo, and former President Buhari, all of whom played pivotal roles in his rise.
The NYF also criticised El-Rufai’s sack of over 22,000 teachers, which it said worsened the state’s education system, and accused him of plunging Kaduna into debt over poorly prioritised infrastructure projects.
The group urged Northern youths to reject divisive politics and focus on unity, innovation, and development.
