Senate Committee Holds Talk With IGP In Abuja

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday received Senator Abdul-Azeez Yaradua at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, for discussions on the proposed Electoral Reform Bill seeking early voting for police officers and other security personnel deployed on election duty.
In a statement by the FPRO DCP OlumuyiwaAdejobi, Senator Yaradua, accompanied by Yiaga Africa’s Executive Director, Samson Itodo, and Director of Programmes, Cynthia Mbamalu, presented the draft bill to the IGP for professional input to ensure it reflects the realities of policing elections while safeguarding electoral integrity.
Itodo commended the Police for improved security during recent off-cycle polls in Edo and Ondo States, attributing the peaceful outcomes to proactive policing strategies.
He also congratulated Egbetokun on recent awards recognising his reform-driven leadership.
Egbetokun, supported by his deputies, expressed appreciation for the advocacy and pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders to ensure secure, fair and transparent elections.
