ADC Denies Resignation It's Acting National Chairman

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has debunked a purported resignation letter allegedly attributed to its Acting National Chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala, describing the document as fake, fraudulent, and malicious.

In a statement issued on Sunday by Dr. Christopher Okechukwu, Director of Media and Public Affairs in the Office of the National Chairman, the party said the letter dated May 18, 2025, did not originate from Hon. Bala, has no party insignia, and was a fabrication by desperate political actors seeking to destabilize the ADC.

The statement said the National Leadership of the ADC under Hon. Nafiu Bala categorically denied the existence of any legitimate resignation letter adding that the document was fraudulent and was maliciously circulated by elements bent on undermining the party’s constitutional leadership and sowing discord among members.

The ADC maintained that Bala remains in office as Acting National Chairman, having assumed the role through a legitimate constitutional process, and has not at any point resigned his position. The party alleged that the forgery was part of a broader plot by former National Chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, and some external collaborators to seize control of the party’s structures.

According to the statement, the group has attempted to submit unauthorized documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including the fabricated resignation letter, in violation of the ADC constitution. The party urged INEC to disregard any such unauthorized documentation and reaffirm Bala’s leadership, while also calling on security agencies to investigate the forgery.

It further appealed to party members to remain vigilant against misinformation, and to the public to disregard false claims about leadership changes.
