Police Repatriate Chinese Fugitive

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully repatriated a high-profile Chinese fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, in a landmark operation executed through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja. According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the operation was carried out in close collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria.
Dai Qisheng, a notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for orchestrating violent organized crimes, fled his country in 2024 after a warrant was issued by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County. He was tracked, surveilled, and apprehended in Abuja on August 8, 2025, by operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja. He was subsequently repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the established framework of international police cooperation.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, described the repatriation as a testament to Nigeria’s resolve to deny fugitives a safe haven. He stressed that the operation highlights the importance of global intelligence-sharing and operational partnerships in dismantling international crime networks. Egbetokun added the arrest and repatriation of Dai Qisheng is a clear message to criminals worldwide that the Federal Republic of Nigeria will not be a hiding place for fugitives.
